Robert Vinkesteijn has given two talks in Italy, concerning the vegetative soul in Galen.

On the 12th and 13th of september 2018, he gave a lecture titled: ‘An animal is a better plant; the vegetative soul in Galen‘, at the “Vegetative Powers: Endowing Bodily Life from Late Antiquity to the Early-Modern Period” conference in Padua.

The second lecture was about: ‘A Green Thread from Galen to Early Modern Medicine: The Analogy Between Animals and Plants‘, in collaboration with Fabrizio Baldassari. This lecture took place at the congress “Galen and the Early Moderns” in Venice, on October 25-26 (2018).
